About Travel FAQ General Questions

What are the requirements?
The requirements vary depending on your discipline. RNs, LPNs and Certified Surgical Technologists need at least one year of recent acute care experience. Respiratory Care Practitioners, PTAs, OTAs, Imaging Professionals, Pharmacists and Medical Laboratory Professionals, must also have one year of recent experience. Registered PT, OT and SLP Professionals with less than one-year experience will be considered for certain positions. Limited CFY opportunities are available for SLPs.

What makes a successful traveler?
Once you begin to travel, it helps to maintain a positive and outgoing attitude. You'll have to adapt to new surroundings, so being flexible is key. If you consider new challenges an adventure, you're off to a great start.

top

Can you find me a job in a particular city?
We have the industry's largest selection of assignments, in a variety of settings and specialties. However, the needs of our client facilities change daily. Depending on your specialty, we may not have a position in your preferred city, but we'll do our best to get you where you want to go, or present you with other great opportunities.

Can I travel when I choose? Do I have to sign an annual contract?
The choice is always yours, and you'll never have to sign an annual contract. Decide when you want to travel and where you want to go, and when your assignment is completed, you'll have even more choices:

  • Extend your contract at the current facility
  • Go to another location and facility
  • Return home, and travel again in the future

Can you keep me working as a traveler?
Yes! But you must be open-minded and flexible about travel assignments. If you're willing to plan ahead and make a commitment, it's likely that you'll be working continuously.

Can I bring my family and/or pets?
Yes, you can. Many people have traveled with family, friends or pets-it's a great opportunity to explore the country together. You'll incur slightly higher costs for private housing and maybe a pet deposit. See the Housing section for more details.

Can I speak with other travelers to get a better picture of travel healthcare?
Absolutely! This is one of the best ways to clarify if traveling is really for you. Who better, than from travelers themselves, to shed light on the entire travel healthcare experience. Simply ask your Recruiter to connect you with another traveler.
