Traveler of the Year

Cross Country TravCorps is proud to recognize our nurses who have had the honor of being Traveler of the Year!

Over the years, Healthcare Traveler magazine has taken the time to recognize the travelers whose dynamic personalities and sought-after skills make them the best-of-the-best. Cross Country TravCorps is pleased to have had “one of our own” in every issue since this honor began. Of course, as our team continues to grow our decision process gets tougher and tougher. We are surrounded by so many talented healthcare professionals that it is very hard to choose only one. We thank all of our travelers for your loyalty and dedication, not only to us but also to your profession.

Here, we invite you to join us in celebrating our history of representatives from Healthcare Traveler magazine’s Travelers of the Year!

2009

Paula Zito, RNMark White, MS, RN
Specialty: ER, PEDI ER
Years traveling: 13 years
Number of assignments with Company: 48
Nominated by: Dijana Lesh

“Mark is the epitome of the perfect traveler! He is highly skilled, flexible, dependable, and about the nicest person you could ever work with! Mark takes assignments where he’s needed and has worked in a variety of settings. He has the utmost respect and kindness for his coworkers and delivers exceptional care to his patients and their families. It’s no wonder that he’s asked to extend his stay wherever he goes!”

2008

Paula Zito, RNPaula Zito, RN
Specialty: CV Operating Room
Years Traveling: 13
Number of Assignments with Company: 40
Nominated by: Dijana Lesh, Recruiter

"Paula is amazing! She has 28 years of nursing experience and has been traveling for over 13! She's been across the country and back, working in every size hospital there is. Paula is a fierce patient advocate who is asked to renew everywhere she goes. While on assignment at Yale New Haven Hospital in '99, she was selected as part of a team that went to Russia on a medical mission sponsored by Gillette to do cardiovascular/thoracic procedures - clearly a huge honor for a traveler!

Paula never expects more from others than she expects from herself, which is to be the best. She's got a great sense of humor which seems to keep the OR doctors on their toes. Paula is, without question, one of the best nurses I have ever worked with. If I or one of my family members was in the hospital, she's the one I'd want taking care of me in the OR!"

2007

Jane Staubitz Jane Staubitz, BSN, RN
Specialty: Neonatal Intensive Care
Years Traveling: 19
Number of Assignments with Company: 60
Nominated by: Eileen Dobson-Gibbons, Nurse Recruiter

"Jane is the ultimate traveler. She has been loyal to our company for 18½ years and 60 assignments. Jane is self-reliant. She does not drive, so she thoroughly researches every assignment locale to ensure that she will be able to rely on public transportation. That's 30 cities in 15 states without a car."

2006

Rodney Daly Rodney Daly, RN
Specialties: PACU/PCU
Certifications: ACLS, PALS
Years Traveling: 12
Number of Assignments with Company: 37
Nominated by: Eileen Dobson, Recruiter

"Rodney is a recruiter's 'dream traveler.' He has been with me as a loyal traveler for 11 years. His strong work ethic constantly earns him outstanding evaluations and requests to extend. When he is not on assignment, he is either working at an Easter Seals children's camp or volunteering as a clown at orphanages across Russia. Every interaction we have brings a smile to my face. I wish I had more travelers like Rodney."

2005

Joyce Hamlin Joyce Hamlin, RN
Specialty: Labor & Delivery
Years Traveling: 13
Number of Assignments with Company: 32
Nominated by: Janet Harvey, Recruiter

"A professional first and foremost, Joyce has been traveling with us since 1992. The hospital representatives at facilities where she has worked all evaluate her as an exceptional traveler. In fact, whenever they post jobs, they request her back specifically. Joyce has the perfect combination of kindness, skills, and dedication, making her one of the best nurses out there."

2004

Isabel Ehasz Isabel Ehasz, RN
Specialty: NICU
Years Traveling: 16
Number of Assignments with Company: 41

"Isabel is a truly hard working, dedicated professional who is totally committed to her practice as a neonatal critical care nurse. Outstanding clinical skills combined with a strong work ethic enable her to handle even the most difficult assignments without complaint. She is a phenomenal representative of our company."

2003

Pamela Catague Pamela Catague, BSN, RN
Specialty: PICU
Years Traveling: 11
Number of Assignments with Company: 33
Nominated by: Dijana Lesh, Senior Client Manager

"Pam redefines the term 'caregiver.' She has been called a guardian angel by patients and coworkers alike. For nearly 30 years, Pam has been touching lives as a pediatric intensive care nurse. When a family comes in to a hospital with a sick child, she understands that they are afraid and anxious...and deserve special treatment. For Pam-who has been known to say that she'll probably be an RN until she's 90-nursing is more than a job. Warm, caring, and completely dedicated to her profession, she is an absolute joy to everyone with whom she works."

2002

Paige Platten Paige Platten, BSN, RN
Specialty: Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care (NICU/PICU)
Total years traveling: 8 ½
Number of Assignments with Company: 28
Nominated by: Rachel Crighton, BSN, RN, clinical liaison team

"I've always loved to travel, and I enjoy change," comments Paige, who has been with the company for the length of her mobile career. "I wanted to move and traveling was the perfect way to do it. This lifestyle provides a chance to explore the country safely and securely. There's such a wonderful variety of people to meet and places to see. Travel healthcare opens the doors to a lot of opportunities."
