About Travel FAQ Assignments
Where do you offer assignments?
We have positions in all 50 states, as well as the U.S. Virgin Islands. But as mentioned in an earlier question, the needs of our client facilities change daily. Depending on your discipline, we may not have a position in your preferred location, but we'll do our best to find your dream job.
What's the typical assignment length?
Generally speaking, assignments last about 13 weeks, but can be anywhere from 8 weeks to 52 weeks depending on the facility and assignment. Alternatively, you may decide to keep renewing your contract with the same facility, or the facility may decide to offer you a permanent position.
Do you offer 12-hour shifts?
Yes we do. We offer just about any variation of shifts ranging from 8, 10 and 12 hours, depending on the facility.
Can you tell me about available positions before my completed paperwork is on file?
We receive and fill positions daily, so by the time your application is processed our available assignments will be completely different. Plus, we need detailed information about your skills, work experiences and travel goals-which we'll get from your application and skills checklist-to provide you the most suitable opportunities.
If I like my assignment, can I continue to work at that facility or go full-time?
Although the majority of assignments last 13 weeks, many travelers choose to extend an assignment at the facility's request. And sometimes the match is such a perfect fit that the traveler becomes a full-time employee.
If I'm on assignment with Cross Country TravCorps and find that I don't like it, am I obligated to stay?
You're obligated to the facility and us to complete your assignment. Beyond the terms of each contract, the choice to continue traveling is purely up to you.
If the facility decides I'm not meeting their needs, can they let me go?
Like you, facilities are obligated by the terms of the contract. They do their best to make sure they've selected the right candidate; however, in cases of documented poor behavior, the facility may cancel the contract. Our Clinical Liaisons are trained advocates for our travelers, and usually mediate to avoid such drastic circumstances.
If I take a 13-week assignment, am I expected to work for the full 13 weeks, or does some of that time count as on-call or other free time?
You're expected to complete the required number of hours as well as the specified terms of the contract. Specific schedules will be worked out with each facility.
