What is NAFTA?
NAFTA is the North American Free Trade Agreement. It creates a special economic and trade relationship for the United States, Canada and Mexico.
What is a Trade NAFTA (TN) visa?
The nonimmigrant NAFTA Professional (TN) visa allows citizens of Canada and Mexico, as NAFTA professionals, to work in the United States. Permanent residents, including Canadian permanent residents, are not able to apply to work as a NAFTA professional.
Can any foreign nurse work on a TN visa?
Unfortunately, no. In order to qualify for a Trade NAFTA visa, you must be a citizen of Canada or Mexico.
How long are TN visas valid for?
TN visas are valid for the duration of the employment agreement.

Yes, in most instances a TN visa holder who remains in lawful status may apply for a permanent residence, otherwise known as a Green Card.
