It's hip, trendy, high-tech and has come to be known as the playground of Texas. Austin is a place that welcomes everything and everybody, including more and more travel nurses. Much like the city itself, the area's leading healthcare provider, Seton Healthcare Network, holds its arms wide open to those in need in the community, rich and poor alike.
As the capital of the state, Austin truly is the unconventional heart of Texas. This vibrant and fast growing cosmopolitan city offers more diversity, activity and opportunity than you can imagine. Nationally recognized as one of the best places in the country to live and do business, this city has been called laid back, relaxed and even a bit eccentric. Relaxed, it may be, but boring it's not. From one of the nation's largest universities to the nation's largest statehouse, Austin offers all around "TEXAS BIG" attractions.
When talking about the big things this area has to offer you simply can't ignore the Seton Healthcare Network. The Seton Healthcare Network, a not-for-profit organization and a Cross Country exclusive travel nursing facility, is the leading provider of healthcare services in Central Texas. In fact, the Seton family of hospitals most recently earned the Joint Commission's 2007 Earnest Amory Codman Award. Seton is the recipient of the award in the multiple organization category and is being recognized for an initiative to reduce preventable birth injuries. The program resulted in a 93 percent reduction in birth trauma rates from 0.3 percent for 2001-2003 to 0.02 percent in 2006. As the region's largest community service organization, Seton contributed more than $237 million to care for the poor and community benefit last year.
Nursing services at Seton's four urban acute care hospitals were recently awarded the coveted Magnet Award - the highest level of recognition that can be awarded to nursing services in healthcare organizations. The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) awarded Magnet designation to Brackenridge Hospital, Children's Hospital of Austin, Seton Medical Center and Seton Northwest Hospital. Magnet is a four-year designation. These four Seton Healthcare Network hospitals became the 61st through 64th facilities to receive this award in the United States. This recognition sets the stage for some very elite nursing opportunities.
