Metropolis or small town? Tucson can't seem to decide and instead offers the best of both - progress and innovation in a friendly, caring atmosphere. Blessed with the natural beauty of the Sonoran Desert and an unsurpassed climate of 360 sunny days a year, Tucsonans embrace a rare lifestyle and are committed to preserving that quality of life.

The incredible year round weather also makes Arizona, as a whole, one of the prime states in need of travel nurses. Hospitals throughout the state see major census changes in winter months making temporary staff a must have.

With the statewide demand for travel nurses, Tucson is one of the most popular choices for assignment locations. The reason why it's so popular is simple - from legendary golf courses to renowned day spas Tucson offers residents and visitors a chance to get out and exercise and then revitalize. There is also plenty of old west history and unique culture. Not to mention all of the jaw-dropping scenery of cactus forests, rolling hills, and craggy mountains.

Tucson has a history of valuing quality of life over development, which sets it apart from many other big city areas. Sharing this belief is one of the area's major healthcare facilities and one of Cross Country's exclusive travel nursing facility client - Tucson Medical Center (TMC).

Tucson Medical Center, part of a system known as TMC HealthCare, has become one of the 300 largest hospitals in the country and the largest in Southern Arizona.. Tucson Medical Center has earned numerous awards in recent years, including Quality Leader and Consumer Choice designations by the National Research Council, and listings in the Top 100 hospitals for stroke care and orthopedics by Solucient in Modern Healthcare magazine. TMC remains the first Tucson hospital named to the national list of 100 Top Hospitals.

Tucson Medical Center is licensed for 609 adult and skilled nursing beds, 62 psychiatric beds (Palo Verde Mental Health Services) and 90 bassinets. The hospital serves more than 30,000 inpatients and 122,000 outpatients yearly and has several emphasis areas, including maternal child health, cardiac care, hospice care, neuroscience, oncology, orthopedics, diagnostic services, behavioral health and senior services. TMC also has the region's only emergency department dedicated specifically for kids and the only hyperbaric chamber in Southern Arizona.
