If you’re new to travel nursing, you may be unfamiliar with the housing process involved in taking on a travel nursing assignment.

Travel nurses have many housing options and can either secure housing through their recruitment agency or choose to receive a stipend which can be applied to their own housing choice. At Cross Country TravCorps, our team is committed to helping you find the best housing available for your individual needs. Here are some tips to get you through the CCTC housing process.

Provide CCTC Notice of Your Housing Arrangements

We want all our travel nurses to have positive experiences with us, which is why we try to make the housing process as easy as possible! If you plan to switch from a housing stipend to CCTC housing, we kindly ask for two weeks’ notice. This is to ensure that your housing is ready in time for your assignment and to avoid any leasing issues that may occur.

Give Yourself Time

The housing process can be overwhelming, which is why it’s important to give yourself ample time to consider the best housing accommodations for your lifestyle. Do you have children or pets? How many rooms do you need? How far is the property from your assignment? These are the types of questions to keep in mind when reviewing your housing options. Before signing a lease, always visit the property and make sure it meets your needs and expectations.

Review Your Lease Carefully

If you choose to use a stipend rather than secure housing through CCTC, be sure to carefully review your lease agreement. Before signing off, make sure you’re fully aware of the penalties of a lease termination. Remember that CCTC provides stipend payments only after your assignment starts, so make sure you’re prepared to provide an initial deposit for the first month of rent.
